About
I’ve always been creative. As a young girl I loved to draw. I received my BFA in Advertising from the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines—we learned to do everything with rulers and grids! After graduating, I worked at a local agency. In 1979, I moved to New York City and worked many jobs unrelated to art. I dabbled in etching when I enrolled at Pratt Center, in New York City. Years later I learned the Adobe Suite and continued to design, now digitally, for my husband’s business. I also tried painting in oil and acrylic. When my children were young I volunteered as head of “Art Moms” program, teaching art history, discussing master painters, and creating interesting projects to make the children think, feel, create art based on the artist of the day. In the last couple of years I have taken a calligraphy workshop from well known calligraphers and classes at Cooper Union, in New York City. Art in its many forms has created community for me everywhere I go and has brought me great joy.
In 1993 I found my greatest artistic passion: watercolor. I started taking classes at The Rye Arts Center in Westchester County, NY taught by Brigitte Loritz. Through many moves with my family and many new stages of my life I have always returned to watercolor. Painting brings me peace. I hope that my paintings inspire people to slow down, look around them, and to appreciate the beauty that can be found in things great and small.
All the works on this site are original watercolor paintings
Please feel free to inquire about any of the works you see here. Many have been sold, but I am open to recreating old favorites. You can also check out my Etsy Shop to purchase note cards that I make featuring high-quality prints of several of my paintings. They make excellent gifts, especially for avid letter-writers like me!
